On 7 September, the Global Digital Trade Expo organizing committee office announced that the fifth expo would take place in Hangzhou on 23–27 September. Its programme includes a Hangzhou dialogue on BRICS special economic zones.

According to the preview, the dialogue would release a 2026 development report and a best-practice collection on BRICS special economic zones, seeking shared cooperation priorities. The event forms part of activities on digital trade governance and international rule development.

The expo also plans digital trade and AI dialogues, industry exchanges, and investment and trade promotion, alongside global and Chinese digital trade reports. These outputs were described as planned releases in the announcement.
